Our granite paving slabs and natural stone paving are imported directly from our parent Westone-owned quarry. This direct supply ensures consistent quality, authentic natural granite colours, and dependable grading for both modern gardens and traditional landscaping projects across the UK.

Granite is one of the most durable natural stones used in paving. Its dense grain structure, high surface strength and understated appearance make it suitable for patios, garden pathways, seating areas, courtyards and commercial plazas. In both residential and public spaces, granite sits naturally alongside planting, architecture and outdoor features.

Our core colour range includes Silver Grey and Blue Grey (also known as Light Grey or Mid Grey). These remain the most popular choices for UK patios due to their clean appearance and excellent weather resistance.

Why Choose Granite Paving for UK Gardens?

Granite paving offers a rare balance of natural character and long-term performance. Flamed surfaces provide reliable slip resistance, while sawn edges and calibrated thickness allow for accurate, professional installation. Granite paving is well suited to:

  • Patios and terraces
  • Garden pathways and seating areas
  • Driveways (50 mm thickness recommended)
  • Commercial outdoor spaces and high-traffic areas
  • Both modern and traditional landscaping designs

We hold UK stock of all key colours and sizes, allowing for fast nationwide delivery. Both trade and domestic customers rely on our consistent quality, competitive pricing and dependable supply.

Pros of Granite Stone Paving

Granite has been used in paving and civil construction for centuries due to its strength and stability. As a dense igneous stone, it delivers long-term durability with a clean, timeless appearance.

  • Exceptional durability: Granite withstands heavy foot traffic and vehicle loads without fading or surface wear.
  • Structural stability: When correctly installed on a suitable sub-base, granite resists cracking, movement and deformation under UK weather conditions.
  • High resistance to damage: Its dense composition limits chipping, scratching and general surface deterioration.
  • Heat and fire resistance: Granite remains stable in strong sunlight and is suitable for use around fire pits and outdoor cooking areas.
  • Slip-resistant surface options: Flamed finishes provide reliable grip in wet areas, steps and pool surrounds.
  • Low maintenance: With correct installation and sealing, granite requires minimal ongoing maintenance.
  • Timeless appearance: Natural grain and subtle colour variation suit both contemporary and traditional outdoor settings.

Installation Guidance

The flamed or textured face must always be used as the top surface. The smooth sawn face is designed for bedding and should face downwards. Using the smooth face on top may result in reduced slip resistance when wet.

Granite paving must be laid on a full mortar bed. Spot bedding methods such as dot-and-dab or ring bedding should not be used, as they compromise load distribution and long-term performance.

Buying Granite Paving from Paving Slabs UK

Our direct-import model delivers strong value across our Silver Grey and Blue Grey granite ranges. We supply paving slabs, steps, kerbs, setts and council-grade paving to trade and domestic customers nationwide.

Granite remains a proven choice for outdoor spaces, valued for its durability, stability and understated elegance.

Tip: Ensure proper drainage beneath the slabs and use a suitable exterior-grade jointing compound for best long-term results.

Considerations for Light-Coloured and Machine-Cut Paving Stones

How to Lay Granite Paving Slabs

Granite paving performs best when installed using a full-mortar method suitable for British conditions. Prepare a compacted Type 1 sub-base with adequate falls for drainage and secure edge restraints. Lay each slab on a 30–40 mm mortar bed and apply an SBR-enhanced slurry primer to the underside. Once cured, finish with a suitable jointing compound. For full guidance, visit our dedicated page: Granite Paving Installation Guide for UK Gardens.
